Configure Google Analytics

Before start with this guide, there is everything you will need:

Create a Google Analytics code

Visit https://analytics.google.com and sign in with your Google account.

After completing the fields required by Google, you will be able to access the administration area where you can create a new data stream in Admin -> Data collection and modifications -> Data Streams.

After indicating the data of the website you want to track, a window will appear with the code for the measurements. In this case, the only thing that would be of interest would be the code to add it to the ShortLinks Pro Google Analytics configuration.

You can also view the code from the Home page more comfortably.

Configure Google Analytics settings

You will find the Google Analytics settings on your WordPress admin area navigating to the ShortLinks Pro menu -> Settings -> Google Analytics.

Projects: Each project will be assigned a unique tracking identifier (tracking ID), which will be embedded into the URLs generated for that specific project. This identifier enables precise, project-level monitoring. Multiple projects can be created, each with its own tracking ID, allowing for targeted segmentation, analytics, and customization of link behavior based on the specific requirements of each use case. The fields for project configuration are as follows:

  • Name (optional): This field represents the name assigned to the project linked to the tracking code ID. If left blank, the interface will display only the tracking ID without a project name label.
  • Tracking ID: The tracking ID used by Google Analytics. Both Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and the legacy Universal Analytics (UA) formats are supported.

Default Tracking Code: You can assign the tracking code from any of the existing projects to be applied globally across all links.

This default setting can be overridden at the individual link level by specifying a specific project directly within the link’s edit screen.
